About VIGX exoskeletons

Technology that supports the way you move.

About the company

Behind VIGX exoskeletons stands Shenzhen Kenqing Technology Co., Ltd., a national high-technology company founded in 2015 that specialises in developing, manufacturing and selling consumer and industrial exoskeletons. Their work is built on bringing together human kinematics, sensor technology and AI recognition of movement intent, with solutions aimed at sport and health, mobility assistance for older people, and industrial support for physical work. In 2024 they also obtained a licence to manufacture medical devices and formally expanded into medical rehabilitation.

Inspiration

They draw inspiration from the concept of "Kenqing" (Zhuang Zi) – the pivotal points where strength and movement originate – and believe technology should support people, not replace them. Over more than a decade of development, VIGX products have achieved global reach (more than 100,000 units sold in 30+ countries), are protected by 70+ patents and backed by international compliance (e.g. UN38.3, MSDS, ISED, CE, FCC).

Philosophy

VIGX sums up its philosophy in three words: light, intelligent, accessible—and backs up its reliability with rigorous testing and international compliance verification (e.g. Certificate No. CTR0001010011). Their solutions have also been tested in extreme environments – among other things they report that their exoskeleton was the first of its kind to conquer Mount Elbrus and complete the "7+2" challenge.

Frequently asked questions

Read the frequently asked questions about VIGX exoskeletons.

What an exoskeleton is NOT

An exoskeleton is not a device that walks on its own in place of the user. It is not a miracle cure or a medical replacement for a completely lost ability to walk. Its purpose is to support and amplify existing movement, not to replace voluntary motor function.

VIGX exoskeletons work using advanced artificial intelligence algorithms that continuously analyse the user's movement. For the system to assist with a step, it must first detect an intention to move. That means the user has to initiate at least a minimal activation themselves – for example a slight lift of the knee, a movement of the leg, or basic muscle tension in the lower limbs. Only once that initiation is detected does the exoskeleton add assistance, making walking easier, more stable and less tiring.

Without that initiation, the exoskeleton cannot work. For this reason the exoskeleton is not suitable for people with complete paralysis of the lower limbs, or for conditions where voluntary control of movement has been lost.

Which conditions and diagnoses is an exoskeleton generally not suitable for?

  • Complete paraplegia (complete paralysis of the lower limbs)
  • Tetraplegia / quadriplegia
  • Severe spinal cord injuries with no preserved motor function
  • Advanced amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Complete or near-complete muscle atrophy of the lower limbs
  • Advanced forms of multiple sclerosis where there is no longer active control over the legs
  • Severe forms of cerebral palsy with absent voluntary motor function
  • Advanced Parkinson's syndrome with pronounced freezing of gait and loss of control
  • Severe forms of muscular dystrophy
  • Untreated or unstable orthopaedic deformities of the lower limbs
  • Complete loss of proprioception (the sense of body position)
  • Severe spasticity or uncontrolled reflex spasms
  • Acute neurological conditions (e.g. a recent stroke without rehabilitation)
  • Unstable conditions following severe pelvic or hip injuries
  • Inability to follow basic instructions (e.g. due to severe cognitive impairment)

If there is any doubt about suitability, we always recommend consulting a doctor, physiotherapist or rehabilitation specialist.

Is the ANT-H1 PRO a medical device?

No. The ANT-H1 PRO is not currently registered as a medical device, but it is an advanced walking assistance device intended to improve mobility and stability. It does not replace medical treatment, but it can be valuable support during rehabilitation and everyday movement.

Can I use the exoskeleton without any prior experience?

Yes. Exoskeletons are designed to be user-friendly. We recommend a short introduction and adjustment period when you first use one, after which it is simple and intuitive to operate.

How do I know whether I am a suitable candidate for an exoskeleton?

If you have retained at least minimal ability to move your lower limbs (e.g. lifting your knee or moving your leg) and you want to improve your walking, stability or reduce fatigue, you are very likely a suitable candidate. If in doubt, we recommend a professional consultation.

Is the exoskeleton suitable for older people?

Yes, provided the user still has a basic ability to walk. An exoskeleton can help older people with greater stability, reduced fatigue and maintaining independence.

How long does it take to get used to wearing the exoskeleton?

Most users get used to the basics within a few minutes to a few hours, with full adaptation usually coming after a few days of regular use.

Can I also use the exoskeleton for sport or recreation?

It depends on the model. Some exoskeletons are intended for rehabilitation and walking assistance, while others are suited to recreation, longer walks, sport and improving physical performance.

Is an exoskeleton safe to use?

Yes, when used correctly and with the right model and size. Exoskeletons have built-in safety mechanisms and smart algorithms that adapt the assistance to the user's movement.

Who is the ANT-H1 PRO for?

The ANT-H1 PRO is intended for people who can still walk (at least minimally) but experience pain, instability or weakness in one or both legs. It is also frequently used by people rehabilitating after an injury or stroke.

Can the ANT-H1 PRO be used by someone with complete paralysis of the legs?

No. The ANT-H1 PRO requires at least a minimal initiation of movement (e.g. a slight lift of the knee). With complete paralysis the exoskeleton cannot detect the intention to step and therefore cannot help.

I have walking difficulties with only one leg. Which exoskeleton do you recommend?

The ANT-H1 PRO is particularly suitable for users whose difficulties are mainly with one leg (e.g. after a stroke or injury).

Who is the VIGX π Plus for?

The π Plus is designed for active users without serious walking difficulties who want to walk further, faster or with less fatigue.

Can the π Plus help me lose weight?

Indirectly, yes. Because it enables longer, less tiring activity, it can contribute to more movement and therefore to weight loss.

Can I use the π Plus every day?

Yes. It is designed for regular, everyday use, including longer activities.

Is the π Plus suitable for rehabilitation?

Not primarily. The π Plus is not a rehabilitation exoskeleton — it is an exoskeleton for supporting physical performance, recreation and an active lifestyle.
