  • Vsett 11+
  • ECO Speed 9
  • Vsett 9
  • Vsett 9+

Choosing the Correct Brake Pad Type

It is crucial to select the exact brake pad type that corresponds to your scooter's caliper and braking system. Different types have distinct shapes, backing plate dimensions, and friction material compounds. Please compare your existing brake pads with the options below to ensure a perfect fit and proper function.

  • Type 002: Features a rectangular backing plate with two mounting holes. The friction material appears to be a semi-metallic compound.
  • Type 006: Characterized by a rectangular backing plate with four mounting holes. The friction material appears to be a semi-metallic compound.
  • Type 009: A round pad with a small tab and two visible mounting holes on the backing plate. The friction material appears to be a semi-metallic compound.
  • Type 015: A round pad with a small tab and four visible mounting holes on the backing plate. The friction material appears to be a standard semi-metallic compound.
  • Type 015 ceramic: This variant shares the same round shape and backing plate design as Type 015 but features a ceramic compound for the friction material. Ceramic pads are generally known for enhanced durability and improved heat resistance compared to standard compounds.

Installation and Maintenance Guidance

For safe and effective braking, proper installation and regular maintenance of your brake pads are essential. We recommend the following:

  • Match Exactly: Always ensure the new brake pads precisely match the shape, size, and mounting configuration of your old pads. Incorrect pads can lead to poor braking performance or damage to the braking system.
  • Cleanliness: Before installing new pads, thoroughly clean the brake disc and caliper to remove any dirt, grease, or brake dust. Contaminants can reduce braking effectiveness and cause noise.
  • Bedding-In: New brake pads require a "bedding-in" period to achieve optimal performance. This typically involves a series of moderate stops from increasing speeds to transfer a layer of friction material to the brake disc. Consult your scooter's manual for specific bedding-in procedures.
  • Caliper Alignment: After installation, ensure the brake caliper is properly centered over the disc to prevent uneven pad wear and rubbing.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect your brake pads for wear. Replace them when the friction material is worn down to the minimum recommended thickness, or if you notice a significant reduction in braking performance.
  • Disc Condition: Always inspect the brake disc for signs of wear, warping, or damage when replacing pads. A worn or damaged disc can compromise braking safety and accelerate new pad wear.

If you are unsure about the correct brake pad type or the installation process, it is recommended to consult a qualified technician.
