Unitree Robotics

When technology comes to life.

Company history

Unitree Robotics (the company's official name is Hangzhou Yushu Technology Co., Ltd.) is not just another technology manufacturer. It is a company that over the past decade has single-handedly broken the myth that advanced robots are reserved for the military and multi-billion-dollar laboratories.

The company and the visionary behind the brand
The company was founded in Hangzhou in 2016 by Wang Xingxing. His path began while he was still a student, when he developed the XDog robot, whose simple but effective design astonished the field. Wang's philosophy was clear from the start: vertical integration. Unitree develops and manufactures its own motors, sensors and controllers. This gives them complete control over costs and a pace of innovation unmatched in the industry.

Key milestones

Unitree's journey is full of rapid, aggressive moves:

  • 2016: The company is founded after the viral success of the XDog prototype.
  • 2017 (Laikago): Launch of their first commercial quadruped, named after Laika the space dog. It was proof that a Chinese company could compete with Western titans.
  • 2021 (Go1): A pivotal moment for the industry. They launched the first "widely accessible" robot dog (priced around USD 2,700), ten times cheaper than the competition at the time.
  • 2023 (H1): Entry into the world of humanoids. The H1 became one of the fastest and most stable humanoid robots in the world, capable of running and even backflips.
  • 2024 (G1): A move towards mass adoption of humanoids. The G1 was presented as an "AI agent in physical form", with remarkable agility and a price aimed at a broader market.

The present

Unitree is currently transitioning from a hardware manufacturer into an "Embodied AI" company. Their latest models use advanced machine learning (Reinforcement Learning), which means the robots do not move according to pre-written rules but learn through trial and error to overcome obstacles, ice, stairs and even physical interference.

Frequently asked questions

Read the frequently asked questions about Unitree robots.

Which robot model is best suited to industrial inspection and work on demanding terrain?

The choice depends on the specific demands of the environment and the payload required. For the most demanding environments (water, dust, rough terrain) and long inspections we recommend the Unitree B2, which has IP67 protection, a payload above 40 kg and exceptional battery life. For lighter inspection tasks, educational purposes or AI algorithm development, the Aliengo or Go2 Pro are excellent choices, offering a strong balance of capability, agility and price.

Do the robots support integration of your own sensors and software (SDK/API)?

Yes, all our robots (Aliengo, B2, Go2, H1, G1) are designed as open development platforms. They support high-level and low-level API interfaces (C/C++), allowing full control over movement and data. The robots are fully compatible with ROS (Robot Operating System) and ROS2. They also have integrated standard interfaces (Ethernet, USB, HDMI) and power outputs (5V, 12V, 24V) for easy connection of external LiDARs, cameras, GPS modules or gas sensors.

How are servicing, spare parts and technical support handled in Slovenia?

Comprehensive technical support, routine maintenance and servicing of all robotic platforms is handled by the specialist company LEGIT d.o.o. Their aim is to keep your equipment's downtime as short as possible, so every case is treated as a priority. How long an individual repair takes depends on the nature of the technical problem and the current availability of specific spare parts in the global supply chain. Because this is highly specialised technology, certain components are ordered directly from the manufacturer, which can affect the final completion date — but we keep customers informed transparently about every stage of the process and the expected timescales.

Can the robots operate in rain and in dusty industrial plants?

It depends on the model. The Unitree B2 is built specifically for extreme conditions and is IP67 certified, meaning it is completely resistant to dust and water (including brief immersion). The other models (Go2, Aliengo, G1) have basic protection suitable for damp environments and light field conditions, but are not intended for direct exposure to heavy rain or jets of water. During pre-purchase consultation we will check your working environment and recommend appropriate protection.

What are the handling options, and can a robotic arm be fitted to the robot?

Yes, the Unitree Z1 6-axis robotic arm can be integrated onto the quadruped platforms (primarily Aliengo and B2). It enables tasks such as opening doors, pressing buttons, collecting samples or carrying objects (up to 3 kg). The arm is powered directly from the robot and is software-coordinated with the platform's movement, enabling mobile manipulation in space.

What is the battery life, and is continuous (24/7) use possible?

Battery life ranges between 2 and 5 hours depending on the model and load (the Unitree B2 lasts up to 5 hours of walking without a payload). All models support quick battery swapping, which allows practically continuous operation using additional battery sets. Automatic charging solutions (docking stations) are also being developed for autonomous patrols.

Do you offer consultation and a demonstration before purchase?

Of course. We understand this is an investment in advanced technology, so we offer expert consultation for companies and institutions. Based on your needs we help you choose the right model and accessory configuration. For serious enquiries, a live demonstration of the robots' capabilities can also be arranged at our location or on your site.
